Vision of the Collaborative Biobank
The CoBi is a collaborative research project coordinated by the DKMS Group gGmbH and established with other collaboration partners responsible for the organisation and execution of stem cell transplantations in Germany, namely Transplantation Centres, Collection Centres and other donor registries. The aim of the CoBi is to create resources for future research purposes over a long-term time frame in order to improve and extend donor selection for stem cell transplantations and optimise patient treatment. With the CoBi, a platform is to be established to improve the collaboration of all partners in the field of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
CoBi collects blood samples from interested participants (donors and patients), prepares them biologically and stores them under standardized laboratory conditions. In addition, medical and sample-related data of the participants are stored in encrypted form in the CoBi database.
Scope of use: The collection, storage and storage of blood samples and data is carried out within a framework of use defined jointly by all cooperation partners. The samples and data may only be used to:
-
Improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of blood cancers;
-
Carry out research projects aimed at improving the outcome of haematopoietic stem cell transplantations; or
-
Optimise and extend donor selection for allogeneic stem cell transplantations.
